“In the spirit of ‘gathering wisdom to broaden the benefit’ (集思廣益), we will bring together the will of our citizens and open a more vigorous Jeonju.”

Beloved 630,000 citizens of Jeonju! I am Choi Jooman, Chairperson for the first half of the 13th Jeonju City Council. I bow my head in deep gratitude to the citizens who have entrusted me with the weighty task of leading Jeonju’s new leap and change.

There is a saying emphasized by Zhuge Liang of Shu in China: “gathering wisdom broadens the benefit” (集思廣益). It means that “gathering the wisdom of many brings greater benefit and effect.”

I am convinced that the diverse issues and challenges Jeonju now faces can likewise find their right answers only when the precious voices of each of our 630,000 citizens come together with the wisdom of my fellow council members.

Our Jeonju City Council will always keep its ears open in the places closest to citizens’ lives, and be “a working council, a trusted council” that turns citizens’ will into policy.

We will remain faithful to the council’s essential role in sound checks and oversight of the executive branch, while sparing no partnership or cooperation in the shared goal of Jeonju’s development.
